“The courage to face challenges comes from the challenges in which you had hardly managed to survive …cherish them!!!” (Shantanu T)
Hi readers, it has already been long since my last blog post on Passion Vs Paycheck, but I am back, again, with just another aspect of the ongoing topic and a real story worth emulating. Before we move ahead, let’s have a quick recap
In this post, I will discuss the importance of the past Nadirs and the future Acmes in one’s life…confused, well don’t be. By past Nadirs, I mean those low points that have made you go down to your knees and have taught you the toughest lessons of life. Those low points often decide how high you will go, the Acmes that you will be in. Let me elaborate this notion for more clarity.
Look around your for inspirations and evaluate their lowest points in life and career…try it!!!
Actually, the concept can be explained in just one line…the true value of hunger can be estimated only from the expressions of a man who hasn’t got something to eat for at least 3 days, achievement of success is valued only by those who have been through the immensity of failure..!!! We have seen such examples in our world where people who could barely arrange a meal earlier are modern day billionaires. It is not that miracles happen with only such people but it’s more of their proclivity to respect their success that makes them big!!!
So this is how it works, people who gain it after seeing the worst, often make themselves the best among all and those who get it by fluke or luck, often tumble down when they reach the verve. So, how can we use this concept and implement it in our lives? Simple, just follow the steps mentioned below:
First, assess your failures and see what you have learnt from them. Was there a learning worthy of changing your life ahead?
Second, when you come across a failure that truly determines your Nadir, extract the best learning out of it and formulate it as a mantra.
Third, start implementing the mantra in your life, if you come across more failures, sharpen the Mantra to accommodate newer learning and keep implementing it; soon you will find yourself at the Acme!!!
And now, there is a real life example to prove my point…
Jim Carrey’s journey from a Janitor to Legendary Hollywood Comedian who glorified physical comedy to mainstream movies!!!
James Eugene Carrey aka Jim Carrey was born (1962) in a financially minimalist Canadian family from Ontario. Initially, he had to pursue the job of a factory janitor for managing his family expenses when he was just 15. The man had trust in his comic timings and gestural comedy skills and he continued doing minor stand-up acts in small comedy clubs in Toronto. He somehow kept on with his janitor job (due to the absence of any alternate income source) and tried approaching Hollywood directors. After many efforts, he got some small roles in mainstream movies and Jim just kept on struggling for the next 15 years. His first major breakthrough, as a protagonist, was in Ace Ventura (1994) and the movie was extremely successful in getting Jim to an acclaimed comedian status: known for versatile expression, physical comedy, and mimicry. After that Jim never looked back and The Mask is still an iconic movie that won 6 Oscars (being nominated in 20 categories). Jim is still setting new milestones and coming up with more movies of his kind…All the best dear Jim…you deserve it well!!!
I hope my point is well conveyed….stay tuned for more thoughts on this topic!!! Bye!!
